Self Defence
This is a programme that teaches children and young people between the ages of 8 to 16 basic self defence techniques – including blocks, punches, kicks and stances. It is a programme that allows us to teach the student real life situational awareness.
Many self defence classes teach complex martial arts moves that may not be the most effective reponse to real life situations. We expose the myths and impractical teachings and concentrate on the most effective responses to dangerous situations.
We divide our self defence programme into levels.

Level One
Focus on situational awareness and avoidance coupled with practical self-defence techniques.

- Situational awareness – knowledge of your surroundings
- Proximity (The Fence)
- The ipod effect: being connected to your environment
Level Two
Reinforces the foundation techniques learnt in Level One plus learning to apply the techniques with quicker response times and effectiveness. Ground techniques are introduced in this level. Typically it is undesirable to go to ground with an attacker, but undertstanding how to react, cope and attack from the ground is essential. Level Two also concentrates on building greater confidence in the use of all the techniques and their ability to resolve the threat and deal with verbal and physical aggression.

Classses are usually divided into different age ranges:
- 15 years and upward
- 12-14 years
- 8-11 years old.
Typically age groups are divided in this way because as children grow and mature, independence levels and life style change.
